Skybound Entertainment has hired Katii O’Brien as the Senior Editor of their comics division. They have also promoted Blake Kobashigawa to VP, Publishing Operations of Skybound’s comics division.

“Skybound has the best editors in comics, and we’re proud to have Katii O’Brien join as Senior Editor. Katii’s edited some of my favorite comics of the past decade, and it’s thrilling to see her cooking up my new favorites already,” Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher said. “Skybound also has some of the biggest and best franchises in comics, including Invincible and Hasbro’s Energon Universe, and Blake Kobashigawa supercharges our publishing plans and gets our titles into the hands of readers all over the globe.”

In her role as senior editor, O’Brien will edit Capes, the newest title in the Invincible universe, and develop new original and licensed projects. Before she joined Skybound, O’Brien spent 11 years at Dark Horse Comics, starting as assistant editor and working up to lead editor. She worked on Hellboy, Lands Unknown, Outerverse, and other titles as one of the company’s creative leaders.

Kobashigawa joined Skybound in 2023, focusing on their licensing program, growing the Energon Universe in the worldwide market, and expanding licensing partnerships with Universal Studios, LEGO, and Marvel.

“His new role will focus on operational efficiency and publishing planning, as well as strategic growth through traditional and non-traditional distribution channels, new product development, crowdfunding, and foreign licensing,” per Skybound’s press.
