Skin Police 2 #1
Oni; $4.99
In 2142, fertility issues prompted people to take drastic measures by creating clone babies on the black market who turn into unstable, violent adults. Flashforward 30 years to when the United Nations of Europe has created the Duplicate Identification and Capture Division, more commonly known as the Skin Police.
When the first series ended, DIC agent Brisson Eckis started to question the agency and the UNE, the Pro-Dupe terrorist organization is gaining strength (and is led by Eckis’ own clone), and Eckis’ partner Faye Vandal was in a coma.
The new series begins six months later when Eckis is put on a protective detail for a politician who is giving a speech about Dupes. It doesn’t take long for Eckis to find a credible threat that could cause a public panic. As that situation unfolds, Pro-Dupe League leader Noxxon is following his own lead that could help their cause.
Skin Police started with the black and white premise about a cop protecting people from the dangerous Dupes who could go on a murderous rampage at any second. The first series quickly began to reveal that the situation was far more complicated, and writer Jordan Thomas continues that in the follow-up. Eckis may not be sympathetic toward Dupes, but he is starting to recognize that powerful people are using them – and him.
The action and drama are brought to life by artist Daniel Gete and colorist Jason Wordie who create an atmosphere of tension and bloody violence. Skin Police 2 seamlessly picks up after the first series with action and enticing new breadcrumbs for both sides to follow.
