Silvestri, Kirkman, McFarlane Provide Covers for Youngblood #100
Youngblood is returning and expanding during the “Summer of Youngblood” event, according to Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld. It starts with the Youngblood #100 milestone issue featuring variant covers by Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino, Whilce Portacio, and Robert Kirkman.
Each of those creators have strong ties to Image Comics, and this marks the first time that Image co-founder and Top Cow CEO Mark Silvestri is illustrating a Youngblood variant cover.
“Marc’s cover is special; it’s an absolute stunner. I’ve literally waited 34 years for this,” Liefeld said. “Silvestri has never illustrated these characters, which makes it a real event for the fans as well me. I told him that I have to retire now. I’ll never, ever do better than this. It’s one in a million. Marc is my favorite artist, and this cover is monumental.”
Robert Kirkman, the co-creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible who is best known as a writer, is also providing his first Youngblood cover.
“Having Robert Kirkman join the Youngblood #100 cover party? I had high hopes, and he just blew me away,” Liefeld said. “I can’t stop smiling. Each of these covers, crafted by these comic book legends, is just so humbling. It shows that the energy surrounding Youngblood is surging. This isn’t just a milestone, it’s a powerful union that celebrates a Golden Age that launched the company 34 years back.”

“Youngblood is one of the most important independent comics ever published. It started the Image revolution and paved the way for everything that followed,” Kirkman said. “As a corporate superteam that uses media manipulation and treats its heroes as celebrities you can find its DNA in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Boys, Invincible, and dozens of other modern superhero takes. The influence of Rob Liefeld’s creation reaches far and wide into all aspects of the entertainment industry. I was honored Rob allowed me to be some small part of his epic and historic 100th issue celebration.”
The “Summer of Youngblood” will also see Badrock forging his own path in a solo series. In Badrock, the granite-skinned hero deals with the ways that his high profile life affects his family. Featuring art by Seth Damoose, the new series begins in July 2026.
“Badrock is the heart of Youngblood,” Liefeld said. “Giving him his own title allows us to go deeper into his character, his humor, and his sheer power. If you’re a fan of high-stakes, high-octane action that is loaded with laughs, this is the book you’ve been waiting for.”
Youngblood #100 will be in comic shops on June 10. It comes with covers A-C by Liefeld, cover D by Portacio, cover E by Larsen, cover F by Silvestri, cover G by Liefeld and McFarlane, cover H by Valentino, cover I by Liefeld (foil), cover J by Liefeld and Kirkman, cover K by George Pérez, cover L I Hate Fairyland team-up by Liefeld, and cover M by Liefeld and McFarlane.
Badrock #1 is scheduled for release on July 15. It comes with cover A by Damoose, cover B by Liefeld, cover C by Breen Bean, cover D Legacy variant by Liefeld, cover E by Damoose, and cover F blank sketch.
