The Shirley’s Market Collection, an original owner collection of over 800 comics, was purchased between the 1930s through the 1970s in a small neighborhood store about a hundred miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.

“The owner was obviously a passionate collector as he curated comics from every genre,” ComicConnect COO Vincent Zurzolo said. “Superhero, good girl, jungle, funny animal, and westerns; his taste ran the entire gamut of the comic rack.”

Highlights include All Top Comics #10 CGC 7.0, Batman #50 CGC 5.0, Catman Comics #28 FA+, Detective Comics #115 CGC 6.0, International Crime Patrol #6 VG, Journey into Mystery #25 FN, Phantom Lady #16 CGC 5.0, Planet Comics #56 CGC 6.5, and Terry-Toons Comics #38 CGC 4.0.

When the original owner’s children inherited the collection, their research ultimately led them to Metropolis Collectibles. “Vincent became not only a business partner in purchasing our Dad’s collection but a true friend who understood the importance of our father’s legacy to us and our family,” the seller, who chose to remain anonymous, said. “We are extremely grateful for his enthusiasm and love of these comic books as well as the compassion he showed us as we made the difficult decision of how to share our dad’s collection with the world.”

Shirley’s Market Collection lots in addition to video games and nearly 1,200 additional comic lots are now open for bids through January 26-28, 2021 at 6 PM each night. ComicConnect is currently accepting consignments towards their first Event Auction of 2021.

Director of Consignments, Rob Reynolds, can be reached at robr@comicconnect.com or toll free at (888) 779-7377. Cash advances for top notch consignments are offered.
