Secret Agent Jimmy Woo
Jimmy Woo may not have superpowers, but he is a hero in Marvel comics. He has been in the FBI, he’s an agent of SHIELD, he’s been part of the Agents of Atlas, the G-Men, and the Protectors. When creators Al Feldstein and Joe Maneely introduced him in Yellow Claw #1 (October 1956), Jimmy was an FBI agent investigating the Fu Manchu-like villain, Yellow Claw. Later in a retconned comic, Jimmy was assigned to help the 1950s version of the Avengers.
Once he’d moved on to working at SHIELD, Jimmy joined Dum Dum Dugan in the Godzilla Squad. Using the giant robot called Red Ronin, the group set out to find and stop the kaiju. Then he led a secret raid of the Atlas Foundation, which went terribly wrong, and several agents were killed. Jimmy was seriously injured on the mission and was saved by Gorilla-Man, who had been on that 1950s Avengers team.
Once he recovered, Jimmy and his team tracked Yellow Claw and the Atlas Foundation around the world. The conflict ended with Yellow Claw committing suicide and naming Jimmy as the new head of the Atlas Foundation. Once he returned to New York, Jimmy and Spider-Man stopped a splinter cell of the foundation. Then he became the head of the Pan-Asian School for the Unusually Gifted for Asian teenagers with superpowers, which was located in Mumbai.
He formed the Protectors with fellow Asian American heroes including Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Silk, and Amadeus Cho, and on their first outing they protected a charity event from alien attack. Then the Protectors and other heroes became the New Agents of Atlas with Jimmy serving as the head of the Atlas Foundation.
