The sequel to The Batman is building quite the cast. The Batman: Part 2 director Matt Reeves made multiple cast announcements on X (formerly Twitter), including Scarlett Johannson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch.

Rumors about Stan’s casting have been circulating since earlier in the year. He will play Harvey Dent, the district attorney who becomes the supervillain Two-Face, and Dance is rumored to be playing his father, Charles Dent. Johansson originally boarded the project in December 2025, though her role has not been announced, nor have the roles that Henry and Koch will play.

The cast and crew are currently filming The Batman: Part 2 in the UK. Robert Pattinson is back as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright returns as Commissioner James Gordon, Colin Farrell is reprising Oz Cobb/Penguin, and Andy Serkis is playing Alfred Pennyworth. Reeves is writing the script with Mattson Tomlin.

Reeves has shared that the sequel will focus more on Bruce Wayne than was shown in the first movie, and the movie will present Bruce in different ways compared to previous films.

“[In] a lot of the other films, which I love, once you get past the origin tale, which we didn’t quite do, but we did something that referred to his origins, then you start telling the Rogues Gallery story and that character’s sort of arch. But I never wanted to lose [Robert Pattinson] at the center of these stories, and so that is really what we set our aim on,” Reeves said.

Reeves also teased that at least part of the movie will take place during the winter with an image of the Batmobile driving through the snow with “#snowtires.” More additions to the cast include Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.

The Batman: Part 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027.
