During their Saturday, August 23, 2014 show, The Garden State Comic Fest will be giving away tickets to this October’s New York Comic Con

“Instead of traditional cash prizes we are giving away something much more valuable, and you can get one of these much sought after items the old fashioned way, by earning it when you win one of four contests,” said promoter Sal Zurzolo.

“We heard about how quickly the NYCC tickets sold and wanted to show some appreciation to our fans with a chance to win some of those tickets, so first, every attendee will receive a free raffle ticket for a NYCC pass,” said GSCF founder Dave O’Hare.

“Those with a talent for drawing can enter the Art Contest which will be judged by some of our very own guest artists,” he said.

“If you can’t draw a stick figure, then our attendees can put their knowledge of super powered beings (and Batman) to good use by entering the Trivia Contest and prove that your intellect is superior to all challengers,” Zurzolo said.

“If you like costumes, then put on your best cape, cowl and body paint and enter the GSCF Cosplay Contest,” O’Hare said.

The #1 show from the YouTube channel TVLittleHouse, Back Issues Live, will broadcast a live, one-hour event from the convention, in which hosts Sal, Ben and Ethan analyze, dissect (and poke fun at) a popular comics event.

The Garden State Comic Fest has added a roster of comic creator guests to the line-up for its August 23, 2014 show. Wolverine co-creator Herb Trimpe will be joined by Bob Camp (Ren & Stimpy), Dave Bullock (Star Wars: Clone Wars), Bob Wiacek (X-Men), Paris Cullins (Blue Devil), Charles Paul Wilson III (TMNT), Christopher Ivy (Ghost Rider), Neil Vokes (Flesh and Blood, Superman Adventures, Untold Tales of Spider-Man), James Fry (X-Factor, Batman Adventures), Erica Schultz (X-Men), Tom Smith (JLA-Avengers), Dan Khanna (Transformers), Micky Fielder (Dad’s Cartoons), Tim Yates (Grimm Fairy Tales), and Shawn Andrews.

The 501st Legion Star Wars cosplayers and KO Cosplay will also be on hand, and the Kubert School will be set up with its own room featuring tomorrow’s superstar artists.

“We will have over 100 tables of the best New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania stores and vendors selling some sensational and affordable comic books, toys, artwork and pop culture collectibles,” said Zurzolo.

“Diversify your portfolio by investing in some valuable collectibles. Aspiring artists can get advice from our successful published artists. If you have books to sell, bring them down.  You may get lucky and win a door prize or enter and win the Cosplay Contest dressed as your favorite comic book character.  You may also want to sit in on one of our panels,” he said.

The Festival will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 10 AM to 6 PM at The Hyatt at Headquarters Plaza, 3 Speedwell Ave., Morristown, New Jersey, just two blocks from the trains to and from New York City. There is plenty of free parking.
