Rise of Skywalker Arrives on Disney+ Early
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga, will arrive on Disney+ earlier than expected. The streaming service announced that the movie will be available on May the 4th, aka Star Wars Day.
This is the third movie that has arrived early on Disney’s streaming service, following Frozen 2 and Onward. All three are available earlier than originally planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additional Star Wars content dropping into Disney+ on May 4, 2020, includes the eight-episode Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian documentary and Star Wars: The Clone Wars series finale.
“In addition to new content offerings, Disney+ will also honor the artistry of Star Wars with a week-long concept art takeover on the service,” Disney’s press release reads. “Like a commemorative gallery, each film and series’ artwork will be updated on May 4 to feature its original concept paintings. From Star Wars: A New Hope to The Mandalorian, the updated art will feature work from celebrated artists such as the legendary Ralph McQuarrie and Academy Award-winning artist, author, and production designer, Doug Chiang. On the Disney+ home screen, the animated Star Wars brand tile, viewable on web and connected TV devices, gets upgraded with a new animation that honors the signature hyperspace jump.
