Riri Williams Plans to be “Iconic” in First Ironheart Trailer
Marvel Entertainment has dropped the first trailer for the Ironheart TV series. It reintroduces Riri Williams, a genius and a fighter who wants to make her mark but may have placed her faith in the wrong people.
Riri Williams (Dominque Thorne) is a very smart, enterprising young woman who made a high-tech armored suit with the power to fly, akin to the one used by Iron Man. The trailer starts with Riri being trapped in an elevator and given an ultimatum to save herself – but true to form, she refuses to play by the rules.
That’s when she meets the Hood (Anthony Ramos), a man who offers to help in her goal of building something “iconic.” Unfortunately, his methods aren’t exactly on the legal side. As her friends and family start to question her work with the Hood, the trailer shows clips of Riri building and using her new suit. The trailer ends on a comical note when Riri enters the underground bunker of Joe McGillicuddy (Alden Ehrenreich), which has a rather lighthearted neon sign over a box of weapons.
Riri was introduced into the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as an MIT student who created a vibranium detector. When Namor threatens to kill her, Shuri and Okoye save the young woman and enlist her help in defeating Namor and his forces from destroying Wakanda.
Ironheart comes from executive producer Ryan Coogler, the director behind Black Panther and its sequel. The series also stars Lyric Ross, Matthew Elam, Anji White, Manny Montana, and Shea Couleé.
The first three episodes of Ironheart will premiere on June 24, 2025, on Disney+. The show’s first season will have a total of six episodes.
