Riri Williams Builds Her Suit in New Ironheart Trailer
Marvel Entertainment dropped the second trailer for Ironheart, previewing Riri Williams’ path to becoming a hero and the obstacles she will face along the way.
Ironheart starts after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) was introduced as an MIT student who had created a high-tech armored suit and developed a way to detect vibranium. She has returned to her hometown of Chicago where she plans to create new state of the art iron suits that she can use to help people. Her work earns the attention of Parker Robbins, aka the Hood (Anthony Ramos) who would like to use her skills for his own ambitions.
The trailer opens with Riri recalling advice from her stepdad about taking things apart to understand what they are made of and how they work. It shows Riri as she works on her newest creation which seems to include some of the magical elements found elsewhere in the MCU. Riri’s new AI assistant is introduced at the trailer’s conclusion, and unlike Tony Stark’s J.A.R.V.I.S. or F.R.I.D.A.Y., this one comes with a hologram (Lyric Ross).
Ironheart comes from executive producer Ryan Coogler, the director behind Black Panther and its sequel.
“Riri is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil,” Coogler said. “You’ve got characters trying – both heroes and villains – to make do with what they have. Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty crazy combination.”
Ironheart also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Zoe Terakes, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, Regan Aliyah, and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge is serving as head writer, and episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes.
The first three episodes of Ironheart will premiere on June 24, 2025, on Disney+. The show’s first season will have a total of six episodes.
