Following the high profile success of Red Sonja #0, which reportedly
has sold 200,000 copies in advance of its debut, Dynamite Entertainment has
announced an ambitious line-up of cover artists for Red Sonja
#1.

Michael Turner (Superman/Batman), John Cassaday
(Astonishing X-Men), Paolo Rivera, Joseph Michael Linser (Dawn),
and Alex Ross are all providing covers. Dynamite reports that each of the
images will be released in equal quantities. Additional retailer incentive
covers will be made available based on quantities ordered.

The first
issue of the new ongoing series depicts the title character on a quest to rid
the world of an ancient evil, which seems like the sort of thing you’d find in a
Red Sonja comic.

Michael Avon Oeming (Thor, Hammer of the
Gods
) and Mike Carey (Hellblazer, Ultimate Elektra) are co-writing the story
for artist Mel Rubi and colorists Ceasar Rodriguez and Richard
Isanove.

The issue is in the April 2005 Previews from Diamond
Comic Distributors and should go on sale in June.
