Ready or Not Sequel Adds Sarah Michelle Gellar & Elijah Wood
The Ready or Not sequel has announced its official title and a major cast update. The movie, aptly titled Ready or Not: Here I Come, has added Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood to the cast.
They will join Samara Weaving, who played survivor Grace in the first movie. It also stars Kathryn Newton (Lisa Frankenstein), Shawn Hatosy (The Pitt), Néstor Carbonell (Bates Motel), Kevin Durand (Abigail), and director David Cronenberg (The Fly) stepping in front of the camera.
Ready or Not: Here I Come marks a return to horror for both Gellar and Wood. Gellar played the titular hero in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was in I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream 2, and the J-horror remake of The Grudge. Wood starred in The Faculty (with Hatosy), the remake of Maniac, the new Toxic Avenger, and 2025’s The Monkey.
The first Ready or Not introduced Weaving as Grace, a woman marrying into a wealthy family who learns that her in-laws have a strange tradition. On her wedding night, Grace is told that she must play a game with her new family. Grace selects Hide and Seek and quickly learns that the family plans to kill the bride if they find her.
The Radio Silence film sees the return of the Ready or Not directing and writing team. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are back to direct the sequel, and writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy returned to write the script.
“We’re beyond excited to make another film with the phenomenal Radio Silence,” Searchlight Pictures President Matthew Greenfield said. “With Ready Or Not: Here I Come, we get to go on another ride with the amazing Samara Weaving, mix in awesome new voices and bring audiences a fresh take that’s every bit as twisted and fun as the first one. This is for those who’ve been waiting, and those who didn’t see it coming.”
Principal filming is now underway; a release date has not been announced yet.
