this week’s letter from a devoted subscriber:
Okay, kiddo. [You asked
for] my thoughts on Scoop. I didn’t quite know what to make of it for
the first few issues. I’m not a comic collector, which seems to be what the
‘zine leans towards. But wait! Every issue seems to have at least 1 something
that piques my interest … The Cartoon Research site was a direct hit on my
interests, and guess what!? Jerry Beck is a genuinely nice guy!
Your
last issue had a cereal page, showcasing Cat In The Hat cereal with Thing 1 and
2. That’s great! We cereal collectors have been lobbying for interesting in-pack
prizes forever, it seems. Oh, for the days of spoon-riders and bowl-hangers! I
contacted Quaker to see if they were aware of just how popular Quisp still is,
and explained that now we boomers were old enough to spend our allowance on the
cereal WE wanted … I asked if their R&D department had thought of maybe
creating in-pack Quisp premiums … in response I got an email from Quisp(!)
stating that, “The answer to your question is NO!!!” (S I G H)
All
in all, I think you’re doing a swell job. A lot of your articles are
periphrially interesting and dance around the edges of my interests … but
then, we get stale if we continuously focus on the same subject exclusively , so
this is probably a good thing. The cereal premium (old and new) articles are
dear to my heart , as well as vintage animation.
A personal request:
could you do an article on Art Clokey, David & Goliath/Gumby animator
?
Thanx bunches for all you do…
Signed,
Lou
