High-grade rare vintage comic collectibles continue to sell well and bring
soaring prices in today’s marketplace. One of the numerous characters that has
successful long-term appeal is Superman. He appeals to many collectors as he is
not only the first comic book Superhero but also crosses into numerous
categories including toys, radio premiums, advertising, and movies.

“Not
only is he one of the most universally recognized comic characters, but the
variety of merchandising offers something for every collector,” commented
Gemstone Publishing’s managing editor Tom Gordon III.

Recently two scarce
Superman collectibles seen on eBay both received competitive bids from
interested buyers. A 1940s Superman Comic Club flyer from Whelan Drug Stores
promoting the World War II Savings Stamp program in excellent condition sold for
$1,385. And a 1946 Superman Tim Club patch in very fine condition brought $860
and is one of six different known patches for the club.
