Rare Sgt. Preston Items Sold at Hake’s
Long-time readers of Scoop are no strangers to Sergeant Preston of
the Yukon. And neither is the savvy collector. Hake’s auction #188, which
recently closed, featured two very rare Sgt. Preston of the Yukon premiums for
great prices.

The first is a never-worn, child size large t-shirt with a “Sgt. Preston Of
The Yukon Official Seal” image and Sgt. Preston’s name below. The shirt has
original 2.25″ long foil sticker still attached. Its original 7.5×10.5″ mailing
envelope with a Quaker Oats Company label was also included. Heavy wear with
creasing and tears. The shirt, produced circa 1956, sold for $573.93, including
a 12% Buyer’s Premium.

included a “Prospectors Tent” with three wooden sections, two plastic sheets,
four metal tent stakes and a vinyl tent covering with attached tying strings.
Pieces have some light wear from use, and vinyl has creasing from storage. The
lot came with the original 9-3/8×10-3/8″ instruction sheet with Sgt. Preston
image and facsimile signature of both Sgt. Preston and Gabby Hayes. Camping
stove premiums were also enclosed. This premium was offered by Quaker Puffed
Wheat/Rice and the original 5.75×5.5×18.5″ tall box, also included, is
postmarked July 23, 1952. This camping outfit sold for $670.82, including 12%
Buyer’s Premium.
