Random Treasures Closes Steckler Auction
close to 2,500 lots. The final day of bidding was on March 16, 2006. As Scoop
was going to press for our March 17 issue, the final totals were still being
calculated. Thanks to the helpful folks at Random Treasures we do have some
early highlights.
This was a very memorable auction. The amount of
history it held was remarkable. While it was seemingly filled with lots that
were possibly on the periphery of history or importance, that is where the fun
is!
The collection assembled by Roger Steckler covered a wide array of
memorabilia. Some were attracted by the large number of items form World’s
Fairs. Others jumped on the amazing collection of postcards. Among his other
areas of interest were pinbacks, transportation items, advertising items,
Breweriana, sports, military and much more. In short, the man put a lot of
energy in seeking out the corners of the collecting hobby. His work has been
legendary for years and random Treasures was ecstatic to be able to finally
offer this collection to hobbyists around the world.
Some of the early
highlights are listed below. Scoop will have complete results in the
March 24 issue. You can get a jump on that issue by visiting the early results
