Pumpkins Meet Comic Art in Charity Auction
Coliseum of Comics, a comic book store chain in Florida, is hosting the Great Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser. Artificial pumpkins featuring art rendered by comic industry professionals are being auctioned on eBay. The event is being held to support the Hero Initiative and the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation.
Artists providing illustrations on the pumpkins include Jeffrey Brown, Kieron Dwyer, Phil Hester, Megan Hutchison, Joseph Michael Linsner, Mike McKone, Adriana Melo, Graham Nolan, Robbi Rodriguez, Tim Seeley, Andy Smith, and others.
The Hero Initiative raises money for comics industry professionals in medical and financial need, and Binc organizes charitable programs to help bookstore and comic shop retailers. All proceeds will be split between the two organizations and Coliseum handling the costs for the event.
“We wanted to do something fun to support these two great charities,” Coliseum of Comics owner Phil Boyle said. “With these artists’ original work in high demand, we expect fans to want these unique Halloween pieces.”
