Pittsburgh Comicon 12 Starts April 22

The Pittsburgh Comicon, based at the Pittsburgh Expomart in Monroeville,
Pennsylvania will welcome a slate of comic book and general entertainment guests
to this year’s show, the twelfth since its inception.

The April 22-24
convention features such comic book stars as George Pérez, Jimmy
Palmiotti, Joe Linsner, Terry Moore, Mark Texeira, Billy Tucci, David Mack,
Howard Porter, Ron Frenz, Scott McDaniel, Ron Garney and Sal
Buscema.

Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Margot Kidder
(Superman), Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Mark Lutz
(Angel), Jason Carter (Babylon 5) and other genre media guests
will also be featured.

The convention also hosts a number of gaming
tournaments, a 24-hour movie and anime room, and a huge main area filled with a
wide array of back-issue dealers, publishers, and creators.

“Sal Buscema
is drawing free headshots of any Marvel or DC character for every attendee.There
will be a bucket on his table if anyone would like to give a few bucks to the
Make-A-Wish Foundation,” convention promoter Renee George told Scoop.
Buscema will be appearing all three days of the show.

Superman
movie cast members Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) and Jack O’Holloran (Non) will be
signing autographs all three days and also will be talking about what it was
like to work together in Superman II during a panel which is scheduled
for Friday at 3:00 PM.

There will be a midnight showing of Rocky
Horror Picture Show
to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) on
Saturday, April 23. The admission will be $5.00. Each of the show’s three days
will feature CBLDF Quick Sketch sessions in which attendees have the chance to
win a piece of original art for a $1.00 donation. The show reportedly raised
over $6,000 for the CBLDF last year.

The convention’s annual Make-A-Wish
Foundation Art Auction will be Saturday April 23 at 7:00 PM. Some of the items
are a painting of 15 characters by Mark Texeira (the con’s program book cover),
the cover art of Strangers in Paradise #74 by Terry Moore, a New Teen
Titans piece by George Perez, and many other items. The con reported that last
year’s auction raised $26,000 for Make-A-Wish.
