A piece of 1980s cult film history just sold for an impressive sum. Pee-wee Herman’s iconic red bike that the rebellious man child and bicycle enthusiast rode in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure has sold for $125,000.

The bike was sold by Van Eaton Galleries & Auctions during an auction on May 3-4, 2025. It is one of 14 bikes that were used during filming, and was made by stuntman Gary Littlejohn. Garnering more interest than expected, the bike sold for double the preauction estimate of $30,000 to $60,000.

The bike was the object of Pee-wee Herman’s affection in the 1985 movie starring Paul Reubens. It is central to the plot of the movie, starting when his enemy Francis asks to buy the bike and is rebuffed by Pee-wee. When the bike is stolen and a psychic tells Pee-wee that it is in the basement of the Alamo, he embarks on an adventure to find his beloved bike.

Pee-wee’s bike was part of a pop culture estate auction featuring items owned by Rocky & Bullwinkle creator Jay Ward. The auction also included headphones that Steven Spielberg used while filming Jurassic Park, props from Back to the Future, memorabilia from Star Wars, Bee Gees guitars, celebrity autographs, and more.
