Pedigree Comics’ May Mega Marvel Auction closes soon on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. The first lot (5 Star Super-Hero Spectacular #1 9.0) ends at 8:07 PM ET and the last lot (X-Men Annual #14 9.8) ends at 11:30 PM.

There is no buyer’s premium on any of the lots in the auction and every book is listed with no reserve. Every book is CGC or CBCS-graded and the minimum bid is $20 for this auction. Nearly 500 books are open for bidding in the Auction Listing on Pedigree’s website under the auction banner.

There are many Marvel titles and issues in the auction from a few different collections and consignments. There’s a group of high grade Silver Age Marvel and DC keys in 9.4 and higher, plus a group of Golden Age books from low to high grade, more Bronze Age Marvel Winnipeg books, and more.

A group of CGC-certified Golden and Silver Age books (plus a couple from the 1970s and ‘80s) were recently consigned to Pedigree Comics’ CEO and President Doug Schmell. Many are the single highest or tied as the highest certified example to date, and almost every one that is not highest certified is second highest. The books come from a collection out of New Jersey and most were just graded two weeks ago.

Highlights are All-American Comics #73 9.6 (single highest certified copy), Amazing Spider-Man #39 9.4, #101 9.6, and #300 9.8, Avengers #57 9.8 (highest certified copy), Batman #190 9.8 (highest certified copy), Blackhawk #13 9.8 Mile High (single highest certified copy), Captain Science #1 9.6 (single highest certified copy), Crime Does Not Pay #27 9.4 (highest certified copy) and #34 9.6 (single highest certified copy), Famous Funnies #209 9.2, Giant-Size X-Men #1 9.6, Journey Into Mystery #96 9.6, Justice League of America #2 9.6, Silver Surfer #1 9.6 and #3 9.6, Strange Tales #11 9.2 Northford and #14 9.6 Northford (single highest certified copy), Tales of Suspense #39 9.4, Tales to Astonish #27 8.5, and Thunda #1 9.4.

There are three ways to consign your books to the June Grand Auction. The only criteria is that the books must be CGC or CBCS-graded and worth no less than $20. If you have high grade raw books that you want to have certified and sold in the May auction or a future Grand Auction, you can utilize Pedigree’s Raw To Riches Consignment Service, in which they will have your books certified under their account and will lay out all the CGC or CBCS-grading fees in advance for you (refer to the website and their Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide advertisement for all the details of the Raw to Riches Consignment Service).

To consign you can ship your books directly to their offices in Wellington, Florida. They will inventory, scan, and upload each book into the Grand Auction listing. The books will be listed under your personal account and you will receive email notification at the conclusion of the auction with a list of every consigned book that sold along with the winning bid made.

Email the scans of the books you wish to consign directly to them at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com. They will format and upload each scan onto their server and then put each book into the Grand Auction listing. Use a .jpeg format with the resolution set at 72 and the pixel width at 1200 for optimum clarity. If you do not have a scanner you can use a digital camera.

You can upload your own scans, item information, book or art descriptions and reserve amounts, if any, by utilizing their Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site and login, click the “Customer Page” tab under “Your Account” and then click “Consignments” (under the “Auctions” heading). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and list your own CGC- or CBCS-certified books. Pedigree will receive an email once you have uploaded the scan and book information for each individual item into the system and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The items will then be added to the Grand Auction listing to be bid on.

If you have any questions or comments about the consignment process, any of the auction lots or about the High Grade May Mega Marvel Auction in general, contact Mr. Schmell at (561) 422-1120 (office) or (561) 596-9111 (cell) or at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com.
