The results are in from Pedigree Comics, Inc.’s just completed June Grand Auction. The auction began the night of Monday, June 19, 2017 and ended the night of Wednesday, June 28 in the separate Grand Auction section of their website (www.PedigreeComics.com). There were 446 CGC and CBCS certified comic books to choose from and almost every book sold. The sale totaled $781,331, though with the post auction deals already in the works, the total will exceed $800,000.

“The auction was extremely well. The market is still as strong as ever for high grade, investment quality Silver and Bronze Age Marvels and DCs. Most of the books in the auction sold at GPA or above GPA prices. The highlight of the auction was the simply incredible 9.8 (and 9.9) Amazing Spider-Man run between issues 5 and 201 of noted collector Stewart DeSoto that was consigned to the auction in early May. Most of the Amazing Spider-Man books sold at above the most recent GPA prices and many set new sales records,” Pedigree President and CEO Doug Schmell said.

Highlights from Mr. DeSoto’s Amazing Spider-Man run were Amazing Spider-Man #5 9.6 $20,505, #7 9.8 $63,501 (Twin Cities), #10 9.6 $6,000, #14 9.6 $18,666, #19 9.9 $24,927, #23 9.6 $9,600 (White Mountain), #33 9.8 $3,556, #39 9.8 $13,200, #40 9.6 $5,100, #43 9.8 $6,200, #60 9.8 $18,750, #67 9.8 $2,552, #71 9.8 $3,155, #78 9.8 $3,350, #82 9.8 $2,395, #83 9.8 $1,889, #88 9.8 $1,815, #124 9.8 $3,000, #129 9.8 $9,600, #156 9.8 $1,057, and #194 9.8 $986.

Pedigree promotes and advertises each auction and sends periodic newsletters to all of their over 23,000 customers announcing the auction items. Pedigree also offers cash advances for quality consignments so check the site for consignment instructions and get your books in now.

The higher the value of the comics sold in a Grand Auction, the more money the consignor takes home under Pedigree Comics’ Climbing Scale as follows:

10% Commission
for any consigned item that sells up to $10,000 (Consignor’s Proceeds = 90% of the final bid price);
9% Commission

8% Commission
for any consigned item that sells over $25,000 and up to $50,000 (Consignor’s Proceeds = 92% of the final bid price);
6% Commission
for any consigned item that sells over $50,000 and up to $100,000 (Consignor’s Proceeds = 94% of the final bid price);
5% Commission
for any consigned item that sells over $100,000 (Consignor’s Proceeds = 95% of the final bid)

There are three easy ways to consign your books to Pedigree’s upcoming June Grand Auctions. The only criteria is that the books must be CGC or CBCS graded and worth no less than $100. If you have high grade raw books that you want to have certified and sold in the June auction or a future Grand Auction, you can utilize Pedigree’s Raw To Riches Consignment Service, in which they will have your books certified under their account and will lay out all the CGC or CBCS grading fees in advance for you (refer to the website and their Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide advertisement for all the details of the Raw to Riches Consignment Service).

To consign you can ship your books or original art directly to their offices in Wellington and Boca Raton, Florida. They will inventory, scan, and upload each book into the Grand Auction listing. The books will be listed under your personal account and you will receive email notification at the conclusion of the auction with a list of every consigned book that sold along with the winning bid made.

Email the scans of the books you wish to consign directly to them at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com (comics) or RandyLawrence@pedigreecomics.com (art). They will format and upload each scan onto their server and then put each book into the Grand Auction listing. Please use a .jpeg format with the resolution set at 72 and the pixel width at no more than 1200 for optimum clarity. If you do not have a scanner you can use a digital camera.

You can upload your own scans, item information, book or art descriptions and reserve amounts, if any, by utilizing their Automated Consignment System. Just register onto the site and login, click the “Customer Page” tab under “Your Account” and then click “Consignments” (under the “Auctions” heading). You will then be able to enter the Pedigree Comics Consignment Management System and list your own CGC or CBCS certified books and original comic art. Pedigree will receive an email once you have uploaded the scan and book or art information for each individual item into the system and they will then review the information imparted for accuracy. The items will then be added to the Grand Auction listing to be bid on. You will be amazed how simple it is to use the Automated Consignment System.

If you have any questions or comments about the consignment process, any of the auction lots or about the June Grand Auction in general, as well as how to consign your books to Pedigree’s upcoming August Grand Auction, contact Mr. Schmell at (561) 422-1120 (office) or (561) 596-9111 (cell) or at DougSchmell@pedigreecomics.com.
