Pedigree High Grade DC Auction Now Open
Pedigree Comics’ CGC high grade DC auction is now open. The auction began on the night of Monday, March 2, 2020, and lasts for ten days until the night of Thursday, March 12 as a separate event on the Pedigree Comics website (www.PedigreeComics.com).
The first half of lots start ending at 8:39 PM ET on Wednesday, March 11 and the second half of lots end on Thursday, March 12 beginning at 8:39. There is no buyer’s premium on any of the lots in the auction and every item (save for a few) is listed without a reserve. Every book is CGC or CBCS-graded and the minimum bid is only $20 for this auction. The 820 books are open for bidding in the Auction Listing on Pedigree’s website and can be viewed by clicking the Auction banner.
This auction features a Silver Age DC collection that Pedigree Comics’ CEO and President Doug Schmell purchased in December. The collection comes out of central New Jersey and consists of over 150 CGC-certified books, mostly in high grade. Titles include Action Comics, Adventure Comics, Batman, Detective Comics, Flash, Superboy, Superman, World’s Finest Comics, and more. There are many keys and highest certified books in the collection, highlighted by the only known 9.4 copy of Batman #100 and a #121 CGC 9.0.
This is one of the best auctions Pedigree has held for high grade Silver and Bronze Age DC comic books, according to Pedigree. Many of the books are graded CGC 9.8 and are the highest graded copies. A bunch are also the single highest graded. Many of the books were just recently graded by CGC and many come from different consignments.
The Batman run consists of over 70 high grade issues, including some from the Golden and Bronze Age. The Batman books are new to market. A few issues are the highest certified copies, some are the second highest certified, and there are a few doubles in the run.
