Over Black Friday and Thanksgiving weekend many comic book stores will be hosting sales and special events for comics fans. On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Eddie Newsome, co-author of The Overstreet Guide to Cosplay will appear for a signing at Acme Comics in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In The Overstreet Guide to Cosplay, Newsome wrote about his experiences as a cosplayer. He chronicled his journey in the hobby, shared tips on aspects of cosplay, and discussed social issues within the hobby.

Newsome will appear at Acme Comics from 12 PM to 2 PM. He will be in costume and will pose for photographs with attendees at the signing.

Acme will be running sales throughout the day. Limited edition and limited quantity variants will be available and t-shirts featuring Acme Comics, Acme Comics Presents, and Geeksboro Coffeehouse Cinema will debut. A teacher appreciation sale at Acme Comics Presents will offer discounts on all-ages comics and graphic novels. Free sketches by local artists Thomas Boatwright, Charles Drake, and Brian Smith will also be available.

The Overstreet Guide to Cosplay was co-authored by Gemstone Publishing Assistant Editor Carrie Wood and Geppi’s Entertainment Museum President Melissa Bowersox. The book features guidance on sewing, making logos, working with worbla, choosing fabrics, even rainy day projects for kids. It includes spotlights on cosplayers and several conventions. Those who cannot make it to the signing can order a copy from gemstonepublishing.com.
