There must be something about Little Lulu. Two days after the hardcover
Little Lulu edition of The Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #35
sold out upon its Wednesday, March 23, 2005 release, the soft cover Little Lulu
edition has sold out as well.

“Over the last few years we’ve been able
to showcase comics beyond the standard superheroes. We’ve featured Archie and
the gang, Donald Duck’s 70th anniversary, and now Little Lulu on our
covers to show our support for other genres and all-ages material, so we’re
obviously very happy with the retailers and fans who have supported us,” said
J.C. Vaughn, Executive Editor of Gemstone Publishing.

Both of the Little
Lulu editions feature Lulu and Tubby illustrated by John Stanley, the late
writer-artist who guided their adventures for many years, and one of the
Guide’s feature articles spotlights Little Lulu’s 70th
anniversary as a comic strip and 60th anniversary as a comic book.
The article also includes three concept drawings from the Overstreet files that
Stanley created years ago for possible Guide covers.

Noted with
the release announcement last week, this year’s edition of the Guide
arrived two weeks early at comic book specialty shops. It was initially offered
in four editions to the Direct Market through Diamond Comic Distributors. The
versions still available are the Iron Man soft cover and Iron Man hard cover.
The soft cover editions retail for $25 and the hard covers are $32.

“The
Iron Man hardcover edition is moving briskly as well, but at this point we
believe our supply will last a few more weeks,” Vaughn said. “The Iron Man soft
cover edition sold extremely well, but we hope it will remain available for some
time.”

Since 1970, only one comic book price guide has been dubbed “the
Bible” for casual and die-hard collectors alike. While others have come and
gone, The Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide has become the
premiere reference source for the hobby, and it covers centuries of comic book
history.
