Over 900 Comics in Hake’s Online Auction
Hake’s Auctions has opened their online exclusive comic auction, which has over 900 Golden to Modern Age comics, including more than 350 CGC-graded books. They are accepting bids now through Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 3.0 contains the first full appearance of Wolverine, as well as an appearance by Wendigo. The key Bronze Age book has a Len Wein story with a Herb Trimpe cover and art with additional art by Jack Abel.
There are multiple key issues of Amazing Spider-Man in this auction, starting with #14 CGC 2.5 with the debut of Green Goblin. This important Silver Age book has a Stan Lee story and Steve Ditko cover and art. It also features the first meeting of the Hulk and Spider-Man, along with an appearance by the Enforcers.
The Punisher sees his introduction in Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 5.0. This Bronze key also introduces the Jackal, with a story by Gerry Conway, cover by Gil Kane and John Romita, and art by Ross Andru, Frank Giacoia, and Dave Hunt.
There are several copies of Amazing Spider-Man #361 with the first full appearance of Carnage, graded CGC 9.6, 9.4, 9.2, and 7.0. This issue has a cover and art by Mark Bagley and Randy Emberlin with a story by David Michelinie.
In Iron Man #1 CGC 6.5, the story from Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1 continues by retelling Iron Man’s origin. The story is by Archie Goodwin and Gene Colan provided the cover and art with additional art by Johnny Craig.
A first printing copy of Batman: The Killing Joke #nn CGC 9.8 with an embossed cover is up for grabs. Lauded as one of the Joker’s greatest stories, it was written by Alan Moore with cover and art by Brian Bolland.
Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird are introduced in Giant-Size X-Men #1 CGC 1.8. Also featuring the second full appearance of Wolverine, this issue has a Len Wein story, Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum cover, and Cockrum art.
In Whiz Comics #4 CGC Restored 3.5, Captain Marvel’s origin is retold and it has the first appearance of Daniel Doom. This issue features a story by Bill Parker, cover and art by C.C. Beck, and additional art by Greg Duncan and Pete Costanza.
Some of the other auction highlights are Batman #227, Amazing Spider-Man #2 (first Vulture), Fantastic Four #67 (first Him – Adam Warlock), Peanuts #13 (last issue), and Millie the Model #72 (double cover).
