Over 400 Original Art Lots in ComicConnect Event Auction #51
ComicConnect’s Event Auction #51 offers the largest selection of original art they’ve ever had with over 400 lots.
“The selection runs the gamut of comic book history and features work by some of the biggest names in the field, many on the market for the first time, or for the first time in decades. There’s sure to be something that appeals to every collector,” ComicConnect co-founder & Metropolis Gallery curator Vincent Zurzolo said.
Five interior pages from Amazing Spider-Man #252 by Ron Frenz headline the art auction. “These historic pages feature the debut of Spidey’s black symbiote suit that everyone knows later transformed into Venom,” Zurzolo said. “This comic hit the stands a full seven months before Secret Wars #8; it’s so cool to bring these to auction!”
The auction also has the Frenz cover to Thor #412, the first cover appearance of The New Warriors as well as Man-Thing’s very first cover appearance by Rich Buckler on Ka-Zar #13. Plus, Jack Kirby’s Spider-Man cover to Marvelmania #5 from 1970. Kirby created very few covers featuring Spidey, and this is one of an even smaller number that are known to exist.
Additional highlights are an action page by Frank Miller from the Elektra Lives Again graphic novel, Kirby pages from Thor #140 and Mister Miracle #14, John Buscema pages from Fantastic Four #126, Avengers #105, and Thor #210, an amazing Galactus splash from Silver Surfer: Judgment Day, pages by John Romita Jr. from his first go around as artist on the Uncanny X-Men, and a page from Contest of Champions #2.
Bidding ends Monday, September 19, 2022. Micah Spivak can be reached at micahs@metropoliscomics.com with any questions about bidding or consigning and ComicConnect can be reached toll free at (888) 779-7377.
