Two heroes and team leaders are set to meet for the very first time in an upcoming G.I. Joe storyline. Skybound, Image Comics, and Hasbro have revealed that G.I. Joe’s Duke and Transformers’ leader Optimus Prime will meet in G.I. Joe #19-20. The books will arrive in February and March 2026.

The story is written by Joshua Williamson (Duke), illustrated by Andrea Milana (Creepshow), and colored by Lee Loughridge (Universal Monsters: The Mummy). Their meeting in the Energon Universe will involve “Clutch, Autobot Hound, and America’s most wanted man – Matt Trakker,” per Skybound’s press release.

G.I. Joe #19 features a main cover by Tom Reilly with cover B by Joshua Cassara and Romulo Fajardo Jr., cover C by Ben Oliver, cover D by Tonči Zonjić (1:25 incentive), cover E by Trevor Hairsine, Andy Lanning, and Romulo Fajardo Jr. (1:50 incentive), cover F by Pye Parr (1:00 incentive, foil), and cover G by John Amor and Andres Juarez (foil mask).

G.I. Joe #20 comes with a main cover by Reilly, cover B by Cassara and Fajardo Jr., cover C by Oliver, cover D by Zonjić (1:25 incentive), and cover E by Jorge Corona and Mike Spicer (1:50 incentive).

Issue 19 will be in comic shops on February 18 and issue 20 arrives on March 18.
