Skin Police – the futuristic comic about illegal cloning, its violent repercussions, and the cops who try to stop it – is returning for another round in September 2025. The sequel series, Skin Police 2, is set during a time when the morally murky police, illegal cloning, and political machinations are overwhelmed with tension and impending violence. According to Oni, the first issue by Jordan Thomas (Mugshots) and artist Daniel Gete (Biker Mice from Mars) serves as a jumping on point for new readers.

By the year 2142, fertility levels are at a low, giving rise to a black market for cloned babies. Would-be parents provide their genetic material to create the babies, but there’s a terrible side effect. Three out of four clones turn into psychotic murderers known as “dupes.” To combat the threat, the United Nations of Europe has assembled the Duplicate Identification and Capture Division (nicknamed the Skin Police) to find the dupes and stop the violence.

Agents Eckis and Sheen are police officers who swore to protect people from the dupes by forcibly removing them from society. People, particularly those who lose loved ones to the Skin Police, are not happy about the cops and the amount of power they wield. That tension is made worse when questions arise about how dangerous clones really are, and if they can be saved from violent outbursts. An underground resistance has formed, and their leader may be someone quite familiar with the Skin Police.

“We spent the first four issues presenting a character in Eckis who is sure of himself and certain of the need for the violent and deadly acts he commits and then slowly chipping away at that,” Thomas said. “In this second volume we’re going to take dynamite to the whole belief system Eckis has built himself around and present him and our other major characters with some incredibly tough choices with stakes that couldn’t be any higher. This will definitely be psychological in a lot of ways, but like with our first arc, this second set of four issues is going to also be packed with incredible action brought to life by my co-author Daniel Gete, one of the best visceral artists in comics right now.”

Skin Police Volume 1 was one of the best experiences I’ve had drawing comics,” Gete said. “We did a lot of heavy lifting and world building in those four issues, but Jordan managed to do so while keeping it fun and action-packed. So, with all those pieces already on the table, Volume 2 is going to be insane! Expect even more world building, but also crazy action scenes inside giant iguanas, incredibly tense coffee breaks and the saddest opening scene since Up!”

Skin Police 2 #1 will have covers by Gete, Jorge Fornés (Batman), Alison Sampson (Department of Truth), and Clara Meath (Midnight Vista). The first issue debuts in comic shops on September 9.
