Serenity, the upcoming Universal Pictures futuristic
action-adventure film now has its own official website. Directed by Oscar- and
Emmy-nominated writer/director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer),
and based on Whedon’s cult-hit TV series, Firefly, Serenity will
continue and expand the adventures of the series’ memorable characters, which
will be joined by new characters created expressly for the movie
adaptation!

Whedon will serve as both screenwriter and director, with
Barry Mendel (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Life
Aquatic) producing and Chris Buchanan & Alisa Tager (of Barry Mendel
Productions) serving as executive producers. The Serenity cast will
include such returning Firefly cast members as Nathan Fillion (Captain
Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds), Gina Torres (Zoë Warren), Morena Baccarin (Inara
Serra), Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye), Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb), Sean Maher (Dr.
Simon Tam), and Summer Glau (River Tam).

As you may already be aware,
Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST’s) is doing a series of action figures
inspired by the film! Produced via a licensing agreement with Universal Studios
Consumer Products Group, DST’s Serenity action figure line will be based
on several of the main characters from the film. This is DST’s third addition to
its Joss Whedon line, which also includes products based on Whedon’s Buffy
the Vampire Slayer and Angel. As with those lines, the
Serenity figures will be approximately six-inch high, and will feature
character-specific accessories and multiple points of
articulation.
