Off with Their Heads? Alice Knocks Off Box Office
The latest film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp seems to have found its audience.
“Audiences clamored to see Alice in Wonderland as if they were late for an important date, delivering a $116.1 million opening weekend,” reported BoxOfficeMojo’s Brandon Gray. “That’s more in just three days than the total gross of any other 2010 release.” About 70% of the film’s audiences saw it in 3-D.
That performance gave the film the sixth best opening weekend ever (The Dark Knight is still number one with $158 million). It also ranks seventh on the all-time list for Friday performance and sixth for Saturday.
