NY Winter Con This Weekend

On December 5-6 the New York Winter Con Comic Book and Sci-Fi Expo is back for their second year. The show will be open Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. The two-day event is held at the Resorts World Casino, 110-00 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica, NY. The con brings together comics, science fiction, fantasy, and pop culture from the promoters of the Big Apple Con and Eternal Con.

Media guests include Jeremy Bulloch, Daniel Logan, John Morton, and Dickey Beer (all four Boba Fett actors from Star Wars), Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek), Taylor Gray (Star Wars Rebels), Linda Harrison (Planet of the Apes), Michael Biehn (Aliens, Terminator), Haruo Nakajima (the original Godzilla), Austin St. John (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy), Mick Foley and King Kong Bundy (professional wrestlers), YaYa Han (cosplayer) – who will be hosting the cosplay contest, Santa Claus, and many others.

Comic artists include Neal Adams (Batman), Rich Buckler (Deathlok), James O’Barr (The Crow), Billy Tucci (Shi), Pat Broderick (Captain Marvel), Dave Dorman (Star Wars), and many others.

Hundreds of dealer tables will be selling comics, toys, collectibles, videos, T-shirts, jewelry, and more. Panels, performances, and films will run all weekend long. 

Sunday is Kids Day. Children under 12 years old will get in for half price admission. Special events include activities from the Girl Scouts of America, with workshops on Character Creation, Step by Step Drawing Lessons, Writing an Origin Story, and How to Draw a Comic Book Cover. Kids can train in the ways of the Jedi in Saber Guild Padawan Training Institute. Participates 4 to 15 years old will receive a free lightsaber. Training is limited, so sign up early at the Empire Saber Guild table. A Kids Costume Contest will also be held for participants that are 2 to 12 years old.

Admission on Saturday is $25 for adults and $15 for kids, Sunday is $20 for adults and $8 for kids, and a two-day pass is $40 for adults and $20 for kids.
