November 22-23: Virginia Comicon
Veteran comic book artist Alex Saviuk, who pencils Stan Lee’s Amazing Spider-Man Sunday comic strip and inks the daily strip, will be a guest for the Virginia Comicon’s two-day show, Saturday and Sunday, November 22-23, 2014 at the Richmond International Raceway, 602 E Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23222.
In addition to his nationally syndicated work, over the years his art has been seen in the pages of Action Comics, DC Comics Presents, Feast of the Seven Fishes, Green Lantern, The Phantom, Spider-Man Adventures, Stan Lee’s Mighty Seven, Star Brand, The X-Files, and many other titles. He’s best known for his fondly remembered, long stint on Marvel’s Web of Spider-Man and has recently been doing an acclaimed run outside of the U.S. on The Phantom.
In addition to signing and sketching during the show, Saviuk will award each of the winners of the costume contest in the Children’s categories a free quick sketch of them in their costumes.
“For many fans, Alex Saviuk’s Spider-Man simply is their Spider-Man. If you’ve ever had a chance to sit with him at a convention – New York, Boston, San Diego, anywhere – and see the steady procession of enthusiastic fans who tell him that his run on Web of Spider-Man was their favorite, it’s an awesome thing,” said show promoter Brett Carreras. “And on top of all that talent, he’s a terrific guy. We’re very pleased to welcome him back to the Virginia Comicon!”
“The last time I attended the Virginia Comicon, I really enjoyed meeting the friendly and enthusiastic fans who came to the show,” Saviuk said. “I’m excited to return to the Richmond area and to see them, again. They have a great guest line-up and I’m proud to be part of it!”
