Skybound and Image, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing are presenting an extended preview of Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition. It will be in stores in September 2025.

The book is filled with over 200 pages of Aparo’s art from his memorable runs in 1970s and 1980s DC Comics. It features four complete stories from The Brave and the Bold, one Batman story from Detective Comics, five complete Adventure Comics issues with The Spectre, plus a selection of covers and other pages.

“Although appearing to be in black and white, nearly all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as close to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn,” per the press release.

Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition is the first book in the publishing partnership between Act 4 Publishing and Skybound. It will be followed by Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition out in October 2025, Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition – Expanded in February 2026, and Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition in April 2026.

After those books, they will publish J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist EditionDave Stevens’ Covers and Stories’ Connoisseur EditionJason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, and Paul Smith’s Leave It to Chance Artist’s Edition.
