Collecting can be a herculean task. Thankfully reference guides are there to assist collectors on that path. With thousands of full color images, the 2016 Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide is chock full of details and market reports on pricing for over 150 collecting interests. The popular reference book helps both collectors and sellers to identify more than 4,300 unique examples of fine art and collectibles.

“To collectors, nothing makes up for the ability to see a collectible in order to get a sense of what makes it special and valuable in today’s market,” said editor Eric Bradley. “Our staff scours the entire market seeking out hot collecting categories and best sellers and secures more than 4,300 high-definition images so there is no confusion over what’s selling and what’s not.”

Each listing in the guide presents identifying details about the pieces and, in some cases, provides historical information on the item. Characters that are described include design features, shape, size, and color. It also has prices realized in recent auctions and color photographs. For some listings provenance for the collectible is even included.

Traditional collecting categories in the book are art, ceramics, glass, furniture, silver, and toys, among others. The new edition introduces categories for hunting and fishing, luxury goods, and vintage Star Wars action figures. Along with collecting advice and category introductions, the 2016 guide has added the “Inside Intel” feature with market insights from industry experts. The “Top Lots” portion lists top selling prices, recent records, and informative articles that offer a look at new collecting categories.

The five-time editor of Antique Trader Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide, Eric Bradley, brings his experience as public relations specialist for Heritage Auctions and author of Mantiques: A Manly Guide to Cool Stuff, Picker’s Pocket Guide – Signs: How to Pick Antiques Like a Pro, and Picker’s Pocket Guide – Toys: How to Pick Antiques Like a Pro.

The softcover book is 800 pages, with 4,300 color photos and retails for $22.99 with a sale price of $17.01.
