NASCAR, Upper Deck Team on Superman Race Car & Card
Superman is taking his speed to the racetrack. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products has joined with NASCAR and Upper Deck on the Superman x 23XI race car. It will be driven by Tyler Reddick and the No. 45 team at a NASCAR race. Upper Deck, who commissioned the car, will also release two limited edition trading cards featuring the Superman vehicle.
Reddick will drive the car for the first time in the NASCAR Cup Series at EchoPark Speedway on June 28, 2025. Card collectors can order the first of the limited edition trading cards through Upper Deck e-Pack now; the second will be available on race day.
“We’re constantly exploring new ways fans can enjoy and collect their favorite athletes and characters, and what better way to kick off the summer of Superman than with an exciting crossover that marries the DC cinematic universe with the world of NASCAR,” Upper Deck President Jason Masherah said. “We continue to expand our footprint in the sports collectibles industry, bringing different sports to the forefront with innovative collecting experiences that fans and collectors can’t find anywhere else. I can’t wait to see how Superman and racing fans react to these first trading cards with the 23XI collectible license in conjunction with NASCAR.”
“Our goal at 23XI is always to raise the bar and connect with fans in creative ways, including how they collect and engage with our drivers,” 23XI Racing President Steve Lauletta said. “Through our relationship with Upper Deck, we continue to deliver unique experiences that fans can cherish forever.”
Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, will be in theaters soon on July 11, 2025. The movie is set when Superman has already been operating in Metropolis and his alter ego Clark Kent is a reporter at the Daily Planet. Per the synopsis, Superman will try to “reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.” He’ll face threats created by Lex Luthor, deal with the fallout of an international incident, and interact with fellow Justice League heroes.
The movie stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela De Faría as the Engineer, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Pruitt Taylor as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howel as Martha Kent. Directed by James Gunn, Superman is the first movie in Gunn and Peter Safran’s “Gods and Monsters” film series.
