Music Takes Spotlight at Heritage on April 21-22
being auctioned by Heritage during their April Music Memorabilia Auction. The
event is scheduled to be held in Dallas, TX on April 21 and 22.
The piano
has some very special history behind it. It was used by Lennon when he returned
to music with the 1980 album, Double Fantasy. Yoko had originally put the
piano up for auction in 1984 for a charity event.
The Lennon piano will
be joined in auction by a very familiar bass guitar. Few musicians are as
identified with their instrument as Paul McCartney and the Hofner Bass. The
distinctive violin shape would make it stick out in any ensemble. When the
musician happens to have been in the Beatles with John Lennon, it becomes an
iconic artifact. It was used during a photo shoot for a September 11 benefit
concert. The bass is signed by McCartney in silver marker and dated
2001.
Other items offered during the auction include a dizzying array of
posters form the heyday of sixties rock, gold records, autographs, and rare
records. The list is amazing.
While the focus of the auction is defiantly
on music, there are items from the world of movies and entertainment being
listed. For complete details, please visit www.heritagegalleries.com.
The catalog stands out as one of the best looking and most interesting that
Heritage has ever done.
