Movie Poster Guide, Author Signing Oct. 31
The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Movie Posters, the next book in Gemstone Publishing’s “How To” line, will be released in comic book stores on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Just days after the book’s release, Gemstone’s Associate Editor Amanda Sheriff, the lead author on the book, will participate in a signing at Comix Connection.
Celebrating the artistry of movie advertising art, The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Movie Posters delves into collecting by category and genre, artist, director, and actor or actress. The spotlight is shone on Disney, Universal Monsters, James Bond, Star Wars, musicals, Saul Bass, Bob Peak, Alfred Hitchcock, Marilyn Monroe, and plenty more. The book defines movie poster sizes, offers tips on framing and storing, and contains interviews with dealers and collectors.
Comix Connection has two stores, located in York and Mechanicsburg, PA. Sheriff will appear at their Halloween Sale on Saturday, October 31, 2015, selling and signing copies of The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Movie Posters. She will be at the York store from 11 AM to 1 PM and the Mechanicsburg store from 5 PM to 7 PM.
The comic book store franchise celebrates Halloween every year with special sales and events. They will offer free Halloween-themed comics, $1 back issues, and regularly priced 2 for 99¢ comics will be only 10¢ each. Graphic novels, books, statues, toys, t-shirts, games, and posters will be 20% off and back issues on the new release wall are 25% off.
Shoppers who come in costume will receive an extra 5% off on all sale items. Plus, there will be costume contests for first, second, and third place for contestants 12 years old and younger and 13 years old and older. Winners will receive gift certificates to the store.
As with most of their special events, Comix Connection will accept donations of canned foods for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the York Rescue Mission. Every food item donated will earn an entry into their prize drawing.
