The team behind Kick-Ass are back together for a new comic book. Writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr. are delivering a story about preventing crime before it even happens in Psychic Sam. The book is currently seeking backers on Kickstarter.

“Sam Nicoletti hears a voice in his head the day before something bad happens. The voice tells him the name and address of a murderer and if he ignores this voice an innocent person dies. At first he thought he was crazy, but as the bodies start building up, he realizes he needs to do something and, after a while, he hears about a murder that’s so horrific he needs to intervene,” per the description.

“What would you do in this situation? You call the cops and they think you’re crazy because nothing bad has happened yet. But unless you take matters into your own hands, innocent people are going to suffer,” the synopsis continues.

Millar and Romita Jr. previously wrote and illustrated the creator-owned hit comic Kick-Ass about a teenage boy who decides to become a superhero. He is thrust into a violent world of vigilantes and villains, surrounded by other colorful characters like Big Daddy, Hit-Girl, and Red Mist. The original series ran from 2008 to 2014, and inspired two Kick-Ass films starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role.

Now, they have the chance to replicate that success not only with the Psychic Sam comic book, but also with a feature film. The new comic already has producer Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man) onboard to develop a film based on Psychic Sam.

Pledge levels on the Kickstarter campaign began at £18 ($24) for the first printing of the 64-page graphic novel, and a copy signed by Millar and Romita Jr. is £30 ($40). The hardcover is £34 ($45), a signed hardcover is £45 ($60), the signed black and white artist’s edition with no lettering is £50 ($67), and the signed magazine sized edition is £65 ($87). Additional levels include trading cards, stickers, an A3 poster by Dave Dorman, t-shirt, baseball hat, and more. The top pledge level at £3,000 ($4,047) gives backers the opportunity to be written and drawn into the book as one of the murder victims.

The Kickstarter campaign went live on May 27, 2025, with a goal of $26,870. In just two days, the Psychic Sam campaign surpassed that goal with over $41,000 in pledges. The campaign runs until July 9.
