“We’ve been hearing good things for years about the Baltimore ComicCon, and we just had to see for ourselves what all the commotion was about,” said Metropolis Sales Director Frank Cwiklik, in the midst of preparing for Metro’s debut into the popular Baltimore convention. “We’re cautious about adding cons to our already hectic schedule, but this seemed like a can’t-miss proposition. We’re really excited for this first visit, and are looking forward to seeing clients who can’t make the bigger San Diego, Chicago, and NYC shows.”

Metropolis will be making its first official visit to “The City That Reads” armed with a selection of vintage comics, original comic art, and rare treasures.

“We’re replenishing our stock from the big Summer shows, so we’ll have some new books, some surprises, and a nice selection of under-$100 CGC goodies, so there’ll be something for everyone,” he said.

“Getting to travel to great American cities is one of the perks of this job,” said ComicConnect Director of Consignments Rob Reynolds, “and I’m happy we’re able to finally make a stop in Baltimore a part of this year’s itinerary. If all goes well, it should become a regular habit!” Reynolds said that he will be taking consignments for the next ComicConnect Event Auction scheduled for late 2013, and will be happy to appraise collections and original art and to accept consignment books all weekend at the show.

“We’ve been getting record numbers of consignments at shows this year,” he said, “so much so that we now have to factor in taking home more boxes than we bring out when planning our shipments.”

Metropolis is also buying your comics, art, and memorabilia, and encourages everyone to bring their collections to the booth for an appraisal and immediate offer. Highlights from the Fall Event Auction will be featured at the booth, along with some classic Golden Age keys, red-hot Marvel Silver Age high-grades, scarce treasures, and more.

“As always, Metro is bringing books by request for our valued customers and collecting clientele, so if you’re coming, request your comics now — space is limited and time is running out! Contact me immediately at (212) 260-4147, extension 10, with your list of books, and we’ll make sure we get them to the booth — first come, first served,” Cwiklik said.

The show runs September 7-8, 2013 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Metropolis and ComicConnect will be set up at booths 903 and 904.
