Meanwhile on eBay…
There has been some really neat stuff on eBay recently, including a spectacular splash page to the Spectre story from All Star Comics #9 (February 1942), The large (“twice up”) art is most likely by Bernard Baily, though with Golden Age work it can often be very hard to verify credits. It sold for $12,414.02 after 50 bids.
IDW Publishing’s recently released limited, deluxe edition of Dave Stevens’ The Rocketeer The Complete Adventures closed at $355 after 43 bids. Released at $75, the edition sold out rapidly and a number have been selling in this range. Will that hold up in a couple of weeks when the second printing arrives? Demand is high, but we’ll see. It’s a spectacular book if you haven’t seen it. The regular edition is beautiful, but this one blows it away. More than 100 extra pages, and it’s much larger.
Elsewhere on eBay, a full-size face cast and mold for brow and nose for Lou Ferrigno from the Incredible Hulk TV series directly from The Burman EFX Studios closed at $412.77 after three bids, a Superman charity sketch by artist Gary Frank went for $146.50 after eight bids, and an unpublished Jack Kirby romance page sold for $577.89 after 19 bids, which Albert Moy Auctions then donated to the Red Cross for Haiti (nice job there, Albert and company!).
