McDevitt Aids New Ellwood City Library
Toward the end of 2009, the Western Pennsylvania town of Ellwood City is scheduled to get a new library. In their fund-raising efforts, they’ve enlisted some super-heroic hometown help in the form of New Dimension Comics owner Todd McDevitt.
To help raise funds, the library approached faces known in the community to assist in the capital campaign. In a town saturated with pizza shops and hair dressers, McDevitt said his comic shop has always been an odd stand-out.
“Everyone has always called me the comic man,” he laughed. “Now they call me Superman.”
The longtime retailer has found himself turned into an iconic image featured on bookmarks, posters, the library website, and even a billboard.
“It’s fun. When other comic guys come to visit me, the way they usually come into town they are now greeted by me!” he said.
