Marvel heroes are entering a new game realm in the tag team fighter Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The game from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games sends players to a new Marvel Universe with characters that have been reimagined. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls comes out on August 6, 2026.

When the game drops, Marvel will release the Marvel Tōkon: First Strike one-shot starring the game’s teams: the Fighting Avengers and the Unbreakable X-Men. It expands the game’s mythology and will reveal the backstories for the playable heroes and the antagonists, the Promoter and Champion. It is written by Steve Orlando, Tom Waltz, and Josh Trujillo, featuring art by Bruno Büll, Áthila Fabbio, and Ryusei Yamada.

“As Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls makes its debut on gaming systems, fans can pick up this exciting anthology comic showcasing brand-new high-octane adventures from the Marvel Tōkon Universe that won’t be found anywhere else! From show-stopping brawls to deep abiding mysteries – this one-shot acts as a companion piece to the upcoming 4v4 tag-team fighting game, uncovering secrets and more,” according to Marvel’s press release.

The one-shot will also spotlight the game’s artwork with 20 variant covers across Marvel titles like X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, Inglorious X-Force, and others.

Marvel Tōkon: First Strike #1 is scheduled for release on August 5, a day before the game is available on PS5 and PC.
