Marvel has announced their next major company-wide event series that’ll begin in the summer of 2026. Armageddon Assembles by Chip Zdarsky will impact all of the Marvel Universe and promises to change the Avengers in a way that hasn’t occurred since Avengers: Disassembled.

The story’s foundation will begin in Captain America by Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti and in the Ultimate Universe where Miles Morales returned home with Origin Boxes in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #5.

The Origin Boxes came about due to the actions of the Maker, aka the time-traveling, villainous Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe. He traveled to Earth-6160 and changed history so that future heroes would not gain their abilities. In response, Ultimate Tony Stark created Origin Boxes that contained everything that would have made them heroes, then the Ultimates used the boxes to give heroes their powers to fight the Maker.

In the last issue of Incursion, Miles brought the Origin Boxes to the main Marvel Universe expecting that the Avengers would know what to do with them. It was not revealed, however, which boxes he brought back and whose powers were held inside.

The Ultimate Universe story will conclude in the five-issue Ultimate Endgame that starts on December 31. Jed MacKay’s Avengers arc is scheduled to end on January 17 with issue 34, then will likely start to lay the groundwork for Armageddon Assembled.

The artwork that Marvel revealed with the announcement shows a presumably male figure holding one of the Origin Boxes. He is illustrated completely in black with no hint to his character other than a cape and short haircut.

Armageddon Assembles will start in June 2026.
