Marvel Releases the Fantastic Four Final Trailer
Marvel Entertainment has done a very good job of marketing The Fantastic Four: First Steps through trailers that whet the appetite for the new cinematic incarnation of the team. With the final trailer, the MCU shows off the team’s abilities, the action and humor in the movie, and more footage of Galactus and Silver Surfer.
It opens by introducing Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grim (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and shows off each of their fantastic abilities. After a cute family moment in which Johnny ribs Ben, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) shows up to deliver her unsettling message about being the herald of Galactus.
We get a new look at Galactus that continues the teaser theme by only showing bits of the gigantic villain. The team tries to comfort a frightened world and promises to protect them against the coming threat. In a voice over, Sue states that “Family is about connecting to something bigger than yourself,” which is followed by shots of Marvel’s First Family bonding together. It ends with a tension breaker as Johnny tries to convince a reluctant Ben to shout his signature line.
This is the third Fantastic Four film series to reach theaters since the 2000s. 20th Century Fox released films in 2005 and ’07 starring Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis. Then in 2015 a new version of the team was created, starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell.
The movie is set during a retro future version of the 1960s, presenting what people in the ‘60s would assume the future would look like. It is directed by Matt Shakman, and also stars Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, and Sarah Niles. It premieres in movie theaters on July 25, 2025.
