Marvel Previews Spider-Man/Superman #1 Crossover
It’s been 50 years since the Wall Crawler and Man of Steel first crossed paths in Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. As DC and Marvel celebrate the milestone anniversary of the book – which was also their first intercompany crossover – they are bringing the two beloved heroes back together for another adventure.
Like the Batman/Deadpool crossover of 2025, this story will unfold in two special one-shots. First up is Superman/Spider-Man #1 published by DC in March 2026, then Marvel will release Spider-Man/Superman #1 in April 2026.
Spider-Man/Superman #1 has a main story by novelist Brad Meltzer, who is penning his first full-length story for Marvel. He is joined by Marvel artist Pepe Larraz (Amazing Spider-Man) in a tale that pits the two heroes against Lex Luthor and Norman Osborn.
“I’ve been waiting 50 years to write this book,” Meltzer said. “Superman and Spider-Man have affected me more than most real people. I carry them with me everywhere – and our story cuts to the core of what it means to be a good person. I’m honored that Nick Lowe and everyone at Marvel even asked. Just wait until you see Pepe’s work. Get your capes and web-shooters ready…”
The main story is joined by multiple backup stories that showcase different variants of the heroes, as well as their allies and villains. Spider-Man Noir and Golden Age Superman meet in a story by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin. The Super- and Spider-families come together when Mysterio summons them in a tale by Geoff Jones (his first Marvel story in 20 years) with Gary Frank. Mighty Thor and Wonder Woman work together when Symbiotes invade Metropolis in a reunion story by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman.
Steel clashes with Hobgoblin in a tale by his co-creator Louise Simonson with art by Todd Nauck. There’s a campus crossover between Lana Lang and Gwen Stacy by current Amazing Spider-Man writer Joe Kelly and artist Humberto Ramos. Miles Morales/Spider-Man teams up with Superman in a story by Miles’ creators Brian Michael Bendis with Sara Pichelli.
Spider-Man/Superman #1 has a main cover by Pepe Larraz, with variants by Sara Pichelli, Walter Simonson, Greg Capullo, Marcos Martin, Ryan Stegman, Peach Momoko, Erik Larsen, Jerome Opeña, and Russell Dauterman, with a wraparound cover by Kaare Andrews, a foil cover by Mark Bagley, and a logo mash-up variant.
“Everyone here at Marvel is excited to be reteaming with our friends at DC for another colossal crossover, this time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our two icons, Spider-Man and Superman, first teaming up!” Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski added. “I can’t wait for fans of every generation to read these spectacular stories that our titanic talent are telling, featuring all-new, easily accessible stories about the ever-growing Spider-Man and Superman families meeting for the first time.”
