Keenspot; $5.99

This issue continues the book’s trend of checking in on multiple storylines with each main character getting a few pages. The Slayer is confronted by the detectives and must find a way to avoid being arrested to complete his mission. Readers learn more about the mysterious golden man, and the Mad Hatter has a macabre tea party.

The artwork in this book continues to be gorgeous. Pulling double duty as writer and artist, Spears has filled it with classic monsters and other fictional figures illustrated with menace and malice. His usage of neon color and shadow gives it a surreal tone and makes the monsters look even freakier.

There’s so much going on in the story, which features a growing cast of characters. The monsters are gathering, though not necessarily playing well with each other, the cops are getting a glimpse of the supernatural world, and it seems that only one man shrouded in black can stop the monsters.
