Long-Lost Stooges Skit Debuts On DVD
Three Stooges fans rejoiced when the long-lost 1933 short, “Hello, Pop!” was discovered. This short is now a part of the Classic Shorts From The Dream Factory: Volume 3, which was released by the Warner Archive Collection in early October 2014.
It was believed that all copies of this particular short had been destroyed in an MGM vault fire in the 1960s, but in 2013 a nitrate print was found by an Australian collector. It features the Stooges interrupting the desperate attempts by their employer, Ted Healy, to put on a vaudeville show.
Stooges fans will also be happy to hear that a statue set of the trio will be included in an upcoming auction by Hake’s Americana & Collectibles. This detailed set of plaster statues comes in at about 18 inches tall and features Larry, Moe, and Curly wearing tuxedos. These were part of a series of large-headed statues of pop culture personalities by Esco Products.
