Lobby Cards Featured at EMoviePoster
Over 900 single lobby cards are part of the new EMoviePoster auction. Once a staple of movie promotion, lobby cards are sought after by collectors as not only a memory of a time gone by, but for their distinctive artwork and photographs. The event is scheduled to start ending on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 7:00 PM CST. Complete details are available at EMoviePoster.com.
Bruce Hershenson, President of EMoviePoster, recently told Scoop that “Looking to the future, if slabbing ever comes to lobby cards, and it looks like it is, this would be the perfect collection to start with.” Slabbing, for those who don’t know, is currently used in the comic collecting hobby. The comic book (or lobby card) is submitted to a third party who uses professional grading standards to evaluate the condition. After the graders determine the condition, the comic book is than sealed in a hard-cased plastic shell. The shell functions as a protecting agent for the book’s condition. If the shell is ever opened, the grade becomes invalid.
Listings this week include an incredible collection of 16 classic comedy cards featuring W.C. Fields, Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, and Wheeler & Woolsey. Among the feature films are Duck Soup, Some Like it Hot, The Great Dictator, They Died With Their Boots On, The Quiet Man, The Ten Commandments, and many more.
