Smith House Toy & Auction Company has landed the opportunity to sell the renowned Robert Lesser Collection of Robots and Space Toys in Spring 2008.

Among the highlights of the auction will be a 1950s Masudaya Machine Man, the rarest of the Gang of Five series; a Yonezawa Jupiter Robot with original box; and a Yonezawa Diamond Planet Robot with original box.

Lesser amassed a remarkable collection of comic character toys, space toys, comic books, and original pulp magazine art. He is the author of A Celebration of Comic Art and Memorabilia (1975), and Pulp Art: Original Cover Paintings for the Great American Pulp Magazines (1997).

In recent years, the collection has been on display in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Live previews of the Lesser space toy collection will be held by appointment only in early Spring 2008 in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The company reported that catalogs would be available early in the year.
