Esteemed English Auction House Cooper Owen has sold the handwritten lyrics
for the Beatles’ classic All You Need is Love for $1 Million dollars. The lyrics
were copied by Lennon and sat on a music stand while he sang the song during the
1967 Our World Broadcast. This show was considered the very first world wide
broadcast. It was seen in 24 countries and featured music from six continents.
The Beatles were Britain’s entry into the affair. Over the course of the show
over 200 million people tuned in. The lyrics were salvaged from the music stand
after the show.

The auction totaled over $1.75 million. Another
highlight was the sale of a military bandsman tunic that Lennon wore during a
1966 Life magazine photo shoot. It went for $175,000. Other items
included a pair or Lennon’s glasses and items from his youth.

The auction
was conducted on through eBay in the Live Auction site. The auction itself took
place at the famed Hippodrome nightclub in London. Items from Jimi Hendrix as
well as other rock icons were auctioned as well. Information about the auction
can be found at www.cooperowen.com.
